"A much improved Rick pool upon my recent visit. Better access, more family activity areas and the pool is well maintained."

"I’m giving this 5 Star as this was our families first experience in a rock pool. We arrived just after the tide began to retreat so we had both waves crashing into the pool and also when no waves were spilling over the edge. Took some getting used to with sand and plant matter growing in the pool but the kids loved it. Pretty chilled vibe too, people of all ages, size and shapes, so I’d say family friendly and not too pretentious"
Campbell Ship
"In wild and windy weather Towradgi Rock Pool is one of those liminal spaces where the edges between it and the Pacific Ocean disappear. Throw yourself in from mossy stairs and let the edges of the pool break the force of the waves: protection. It’s briny and wild with a view of container ships and the belching smoke stacks of Port Kembla in one direction, and consistently good surf breaks in the other. We do this one repeatedly each season because it’s really good."

Understanding the Tides for the Best Experience
Conversely, high tide can transform the rock pool into a more exhilarating, wilder environment. Waves from the ocean can surge over the edges, creating a dynamic and powerful swimming experience. While thrilling for some, this can be challenging and potentially less safe for less confident swimmers or young children. Checking local tide charts before your visit is crucial to align your experience with your preferences.
Some visitors enjoy the unique sensation of swimming when the pool is partially filled by waves, describing it as a 'liminal space' where the ocean and the pool merge. This offers a different perspective and a more adventurous encounter with the sea.

While the pool is generally safe, it's always important to remember that it's an ocean pool. Constant supervision of children is essential, and visitors should be aware of the conditions, especially during higher tides when waves can be more active. The presence of sand and natural plant matter in the pool is normal and part of the natural ocean environment.
