What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Good Game Sydney is a popular spot for board game and TCG enthusiasts, praised for its extensive selection and knowledgeable staff who offer great recommendations. However, some visitors have encountered issues with pricing discrepancies between online and in-store, and the atmosphere during tournaments can sometimes feel pressured.
"An absolute joke.
Purchased 2 board games on Friday night, was given the wrong version at first, and then realised we were charged the full price and not the sale prices that we saw online, but my partner had already paid by then. Spoke to the sales person to get an exchange and fix up the price. He said he is unable to provide a refund without the manager and told us to come back the next day and he even wrote on the receipt.
Went back in the next day, spoke to the assistant manager and he refused to adjust the $33 price difference. He told us that the online prices and store prices are different and that they are separate entities and I would have to factor in the shipping costs from buying online…? (The shipping is free for orders over $75, and my 2 board games exceeded that, even at the discounted price).
We were in a rush so didn't stay to argue further and left. I called the online store and the staff over the phone said the prices could be different to the store but the store can definitely price match whatever prices they had online.
Avoid the Central store!
Dishonest behaviour and appalling customer service."

"Horrible experience at a One piece constructed tourney. A lot of the people who go to play there are toxic in the sense that they rush you to finish your game if your one of the last pairings still playing by constantly asking if we're still on our first game, then pointing out we're supposed to be on a turn 5 limit after clock runs out. We know this already, we don't need to be harassed about it. One of the players even put a timer next to us. This sort of culture displayed at the store is atrocious. The organizers and store employees (whom have displayed laziness in the past) should be the ones to handle it, not the customers/players...My point? Do not come here to play anything. Just don't. You'll more than likely get harassed for something as trivial as a time clock during rounds. Very bad impression especially for newer players who want to get into the game. Also they're stingy with the prize pool, and this is from past events too. Don't go to central good games to play, just buy what you need there and go somewhere else; there are other places to play in the city."

"Good store! The staff is very friendly, and the variety of events are great >:D I’d recommend you to pop in if you’ve got some spare time, and an interest in in-person games :D"
