Reviews Summary

Spoon Bay is a beautiful, secluded coastal gem with a dramatic blowhole and scenic walking paths. Visitors appreciate its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere, especially during quieter times. However, the lack of lifeguards and strong currents make it unsafe for swimming, and parking is extremely limited, requiring early arrival or off-peak visits. Reddit

"Hidden gem at the northern end of Wamberal Beach with small sand dunes sloping down to the waters edge…
Limited parking spots at the southern end of Spoon Bay Road followed by a short walk down a paved pathway well-shaded by Banksia trees, then stairs to the sand…
There is also a lookout straight off the carpark with warning signs of the notorious rips for this area, so it is definitely not a safe swimming area, especially if you have children in your group…
There is a nice little rock platform for the adventurous, but take extra care during large swells and high tide as the waves can easily get up over the ledges…
There is a rescue flotation device on the end of the fence before the trail opens up onto the sand dunes, and there are no toilets…"

"There is a nice parking area at top near lookout. Nice flat path to walk down before the stairs to the beach. We were there in the evening. Perfect time for a stroll on the beach. It's a no dog allowed beach.
There were plenty of warnings not to swim at this beach due to bad currents. There were also a lot of blue bottles there when we were there too."

"Spoon Bay is a hidden coastal treasure, offering a mix of natural beauty and adventure. The blowhole at the northern end of the bay is a dramatic feature, especially when the ocean swells, creating an impressive display of water shooting through the rocks. From Wamberal Point, you can enjoy stunning views over Forrester's Beach, making it a great spot to pause and take in the scenery. However, caution is needed around the dangerous rock shelf, as it can be slippery and unpredictable. Spoon Bay is also perfect for a leisurely walk, with a stretch of beach leading south to Wamberal Lagoon, making it a great escape for those who love long coastal walks."
