Day trips in Perth, part six ✨ 📍Yanchep Lagoon A 50 minute drive from Perth CBD, Yanchep Lagoon is definitely worth the extra time in the car to visit! It averages about 1 metre along the beach meaning there’s plenty of room to snorkel, unlike places like Omeo Wreck where it gets soooo busy and you get a fin to the face every 10 seconds 😅 (still stunning though!) Yanchep Lagoon is also based with...

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Yanchep National Park for its abundant and accessible wildlife, particularly the kangaroos and koalas. The peaceful atmosphere, scenic walking trails, and unique cave formations are also highly praised. Some visitors note that specific attractions like the Crystal Cave and Treetops Adventure incur extra costs.

"Yanchep National Park is such a beautiful place to spend the day. The trails are really nice and give you that fresh forest feeling as you walk through the trees. Inside the park there is also a restaurant which makes it easy to stop for a meal or a coffee without leaving the place.

The best part for me was being around the kangaroos. They are very friendly and you can see them up close just relaxing around the grass which feels really special. There are also koalas to look at and they are always a favourite.

It is a peaceful spot with a lot of nature around and plenty of space to just slow down and enjoy. It feels like a proper outing away from the busy city life and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a calm and enjoyable day outdoors."

"Our itinerary landed us here on Mother’s Day, and it felt like much of the population of Perth had decided this was the place to celebrate. With lots of options — Koala Walk, zip line, Aboriginal Experience, Crystal Cave, trails through the eucalyptus forests — we headed to the Koala Walk. We spotted 4 of the 5 koalas napping high in the trees. So cool! The little lake behind the inn is lovely, so we took part of the Paperbark Trail around it.

We were staying in the Inn, so by this time we were able to check in. Our large and very comfortable room had a porch looking out on the lawn leading down to the lake. Nice! We headed back to the Inn and got a table outside with a view of the water. It was late afternoon by now, and the kangaroos started coming out. We had a delicious meal in beautiful scenery, watching these graceful creatures peacefully grazing as the colors of sunset started to descend.

We took another stroll through the koala area, and now that most of the Perth day trippers had gone home, we could enjoy it in calm and solitude. The koalas were much more active now and in closer view.

There were lots of kangaroos. Dozens. Heaps.

We had a glass of wine on our porch and communed with a family of them just meters away as the sun set. Perfection."

"One of the must-visit places in Yanchep. It’s a great place to visit as it has many things to see. There are plenty of attractions to try, such as Treetops Adventure Yanchep and Yanchep Crystal Cave tour, but you do have to pay separate fees to experience them. But this park is still a lovely place to visit. You get to see the koalas, although they were asleep when we went there. There are also plenty of kangaroos, even in the afternoon, which are great to see. The park is also a great place to walk, as it is very peaceful and quiet. There are plenty of trails to walk on. Overall, this is a nice place to visit, a great place to walk and seeing the kangaroos, koalas, and also other animals in the park."
