Yarra Valley Railway
I went over to Healesville quite a few times as a kid, rode the YVR, I can’t remember what was running at the time, but I don’t believe their 153 Walker was operational back then. Either way, been looking up how they’re doing recently, and discovered they’re actively working on…

Yes! please reopen the train line to Healesville!
The alignment to Healesville is absolutely doable and I'd definitely be an advocate. Warburton is a lot more tricky on account of the useful rail trail from Lilydale to Mt Evelyn and such.
Future Service Anticipation
The line is being rebuilt, so anticipate future heritage rail services connecting Yarra Glen and Healesville.
Looking for a nice train route
Hi there. Student living in the CBD. I’m looking for a train route out to somewhere nice maybe 40-60 minutes away where I can just put my earphones in and look out the window and get to a nice destination to maybe explore some shops or have lunch. I’ve been here for two years…

Reviews Summary
Visitors acknowledge the significant restoration efforts underway at Yarra Glen Railway Station, praising the dedication of volunteers in reviving this piece of local history. While currently closed to the public for regular services, the ongoing work promises a future return of heritage rail operations. Some reviews highlight the 'no trespassing' signs, indicating the site is an active construction zone.
"Some intense work being done here with a lot of help from Gov't money and volunteers. And it's well overdue. We tried many years ago to do the same. But the corrupt committee back then didn't allow anyone on Yarra Glen. But I'm glad to see some of the things I built 20 yrs ago are still there.
So, the work being done now is heart felt by many volunteers from the past. Good work."

"The station building is coming along very nicely. Beautifully restored station building. It's being restored as a part of the Yarra Valley Railway Yarra Glen extension. A great piece of local history. The original line was closed in 1980 after 92 years of service to the valley. In the next few years the station should open again to heritage rail services."

"In a corner of the town, there's a group of old men,
Who gather 'round fires, not with quill or pen.
With reckless abandon, they ignite the flame,
Ignoring the dangers, it's always the same.
As bushfire season sweeps with its fiery wrath,
These men show no caution, they tread down the path.
Their bonfires blaze with an ominous glow,
Sparks flying high, a dangerous show.
Warnings ignored, they laugh in the face,
Of nature's fury, they find not a trace.
Their folly unchecked, their actions unwise,
Each flame they kindle, a perilous prize."
