Reviews Summary

Schlick 2000 is praised for its stunning mountain views and generally well-maintained slopes, offering a good variety for different skill levels. While beginners appreciate the wide, easy runs, some find certain blue slopes more challenging than expected. The resort is noted for being less crowded than larger counterparts, though parking can be an unpleasant experience.

"Schlick 2000 is an incredible ski resort! The slopes are diverse and well-maintained, offering something for every level of skier, from wide open runs to more challenging routes. The views from the top are absolutely stunning, with the surrounding mountains creating a perfect backdrop. The lifts are modern and efficient, and the resort never feels overcrowded. Après-ski is great too, with cozy spots to relax after an awesome day on the slopes. Overall, a fantastic place to ski – I’ll definitely be coming back!"

"Enjoyed Schlick2000 very much.
The beginner slope 15 at Mittlestation is great for a warm up on first day. There are a good enough variety of slopes of various degrees of difficulty, although some blue slopes verge on being red and bits of red slopes are rather black. Mostly well groomed, some a bit icy in places (7a, 16). Favourite runs were 1 (lovely long scenic descent), 12 and 5.
The descent from Mittlestation to the bottom (16) was alright once but too narrow with many sharp turns and rather icy- not so enjoyable. It seemed better groomed on subsequent days, but preferred to enjoy it from the cable car :)
Panorama restaurant at the top is new, beautiful with good facilities, lovely views of the valey and reasonable prices, considering you are on top of the mountain!
The bar near Mittelstation is ok too but it empties early. The bar at bottom station had a proper apres-ski vibe only at the weekend, on weekdays it was rather quiet with disappointing music.
Good free bus service also. Runs on time and it's better than taking the car. The bus drops you off at the gondola whereas if you drive, you still have to walk quite a bit from the car park- and if busy, you might have a long walk or have to take the bus anyway!

Would definitely come back to Schlick 2000, only probably stay in another town in the valey with a bit more going on (Neustift?).

Thank you for a great holiday! Keep up the good work! 👌👏"

"By 2pm the slopes were pure moguls, which makes it very hard for beginners. The resort was quite packed on top of that. I'd recommend coming early, then it's probably nice. A lot of really good side country for freeriding enthusiasts.

The garage smells and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in 20y - we literally felt like we had inhaled directly from a tailpipe of a car after walking back to the car.
The parking ticket/coin machine broke and we had to wait 30 minutes in the cold before we could leave."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

Navigating Schlick 2000 for Beginners

Schlick 2000 is often recommended for beginners, and for good reason. Beginner Slope 15 at the Mittlestation is a standout, offering a wide and gentle gradient perfect for practicing turns and building confidence. This slope is ideal for those who have had minimal skiing experience and want a safe space to develop their skills. The resort aims to provide accessible terrain, making it a welcoming environment for newcomers to the sport. Reddit

However, it's important to note that not all blue runs are created equal. Some reviews suggest that certain blue slopes can feel more challenging than expected, verging on red difficulty. This means that while the resort caters to beginners, a certain level of comfort and control on skis is still beneficial. It's always wise to assess your abilities and perhaps stick to the most well-known beginner areas until you feel more confident. Arriving early in the day is also crucial, as slopes can become mogul-heavy and icy by the afternoon, making them significantly harder for less experienced skiers. Reddit

For those looking to progress, Schlick 2000 offers a good variety of red runs as well. The key is to gradually move up in difficulty as your skills improve. The resort's layout, with lifts connecting various sections, allows for exploration. Remember to always ski within your limits and be aware of other skiers on the mountain. Reddit

Getting Around: Parking vs. Public Transport

When planning your visit to Schlick 2000, the choice between driving and using public transport is a significant one, with distinct pros and cons. The resort does offer parking, but traveler feedback suggests it's not always the most pleasant experience. The parking garage has been described as uninviting and potentially having poor air quality. Furthermore, issues with ticket/coin machines have been reported, leading to delays and frustration. If you do choose to drive, be prepared for a walk from the car park to the gondola, especially if it's busy. Reddit

On the other hand, the free bus service to Schlick 2000 receives high praise. Travelers consistently recommend it as a superior alternative to driving. The buses are described as running on time and conveniently dropping passengers directly at the gondola station. This eliminates the parking hassle and the need for a lengthy walk. For those staying in nearby towns like Neustift, the bus is an integrated and efficient part of the travel experience, allowing you to relax and enjoy the scenery without worrying about navigation or parking. Reddit

Ultimately, opting for the free bus service appears to be the more stress-free and enjoyable way to reach Schlick 2000. It aligns with a more sustainable travel approach and ensures you start your ski day with less hassle. Reddit

The Schlick 2000 Experience: Views and Dining

Beyond the slopes, Schlick 2000 offers a rewarding experience with its stunning panoramic views and on-site dining options. The Panorama restaurant at the summit is a highlight, providing breathtaking vistas of the surrounding alpine landscape. It's a perfect spot to take a break, refuel, and soak in the majestic scenery. Reviews indicate that the prices here are reasonable for a mountaintop establishment, making it an accessible option for most visitors. Reddit

While the Panorama restaurant is a clear winner for its views and quality, other dining spots are available. There's a bar near the Mittlestation that serves as a decent place to relax, though it tends to empty out early. The bar at the bottom station offers a more traditional après-ski vibe, particularly on weekends when it can be lively with music. However, on weekdays, this area can be quite quiet, which might be a drawback for those seeking a bustling end to their day on the slopes. Reddit

Overall, Schlick 2000 provides a well-rounded experience. Whether you're enjoying a leisurely descent down Run 1, taking in the expansive views from the Panorama restaurant, or enjoying a weekend après-ski, the resort offers more than just skiing. The combination of scenic beauty and convenient dining options enhances the overall visit. Instagram
