What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the walks around Neu-Montfort Ruin to be lovely and the views from the tower are generally good, offering a pleasant experience. However, the ruin itself is modest, and ongoing renovations with scaffolding can sometimes detract from the visual appeal and accessibility. The adjacent guest house is a highlight for its recommended daytime menu.
"Thank you to Gotzis Fuerwehr and Hohenems Bergrettung for rescuing my dachshund that fell off the cliff whilst admiring this watch tower. my special tip is go to the guest house next to the watch tower at the Schutzenhaus and eat the menu (not the schnitzel and chips as that is for the Swiss and Tourists). I must say it is the best daytime menu in Vorarlberg for a "long Lunch". Robert Elwes. Royal Alpine Musical Diarist."

"The tower is not very spectacular, but the walks around it are lovely."

"Parking right at the foot, there is also a model of the building in its best times. The climb was not difficult, the view was not impressive, we hoped to see the mountains, but due to reconstruction the site was closed. If you have time, you can take a walk; the place is not worth a separate trip, at least until the scaffolding is removed."

Understanding the Neu-Montfort Ruin
Recent visitor experiences indicate that the site has been subject to prolonged renovation. This has led to scaffolding being erected around the tower for extended periods, sometimes without visible active work. It's advisable for potential visitors to check current conditions to manage expectations regarding unobstructed views and accessibility. Despite these challenges, the surrounding area continues to be a draw for its natural appeal.
The ruin's location offers a significant advantage: stunning views. From the tower, one can typically see the city of Götzis and the majestic mountains beyond. This scenic aspect is a key reason why many still find the visit worthwhile, even with ongoing construction. The accessibility, with parking right at the foot, further enhances its appeal for a quick visit or a longer exploration of the trails.
