Hey everyone! I've put together a day trip plan from Vienna to explore the beautiful Wachau Valley. This itinerary combines train travel, a scenic Danube boat cruise, abbey exploration, and delicious Austrian cuisine. Would love your thoughts or suggestions! #…

Planning a Family Day Trip to Melk & Wachau Valley
We’ll be in Vienna for four full days (not including travel days) and are planning a day trip to Melk and the Wachau Valley. Our family of four includes two 15-year-olds, and we’re thinking of taking a train around 8 AM to start the day. I’m trying to figure out whether there’s…
How is my itinerary in Austria for 17 days? Is there something you would add for a person who loves nature, art, history, music, museums & culture?
If you are into that kind of stuff you can do the Wachau Trip by ship. Both DDSG blue danube and Brandner do 2 or 3 trips per day from Krems to Melk and back. If you use the first ship for Krems > Melk and the last one for the return trip you can spend ~2h or so in…

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Gozzoburg is praised for its historical significance and affordability, offering a fascinating glimpse into a 13th-century residence. Visitors appreciate the passionate guides and the chance to explore key rooms like the main hall and chapel. However, some find the online information misleading, and accessibility can be a concern for those with mobility issues.
"The best thing to do near VIENNA since its a bit boring, is to do this getaway on a bike. AMAZING, i nearly missed my flight cause it was that good."
Johny Khoury
"First off, this is the Gozzo Burg ("castle", actually a palazzo/villa), not the restaurant and neither the university (both located inside the building). For the restaurant search for "Gozzo by Late" and for the university "IMC Gozzoburg".
The 13th century residence has a lot of history embedded in its walls and rooms. It was inhabited until recently and then restaurated, revealing hidden secrets from centuries ago.
It can only be visited from mid-March to mid-November with a guide on Saturdays, Sundays and on public holidays at 14:00. We were a small group with a lovely, passionate and knowledeable guide, who took the time to translate in English too and answer each and every question.
We especially got to admire the main hall, chapel, roof and kitchen. There is an elevator, but nonetheless not all rooms are wheelchair-accessible. As typical of such buildings, inside it was pleasantly cool, despite the summer heat outside.
The ticket includes the 1-hour tour and is really cheap (around 6€), but has to be bought at the Museum Krems, a few minutes walk from here.
We really recommend it, especially to everyone interested in local history and architecture/art/restauration."

"No doubt it's a nice place however if you don't like brain, liver or other body parts this may not be the place for you! I ordered the schnitzel as it's the only normal looking thing I saw! But if you are a good connoisseur you would like it"
