What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning beauty of the Rüfikopf ski run, calling it one of the most beautiful in the world. The panoramic views from the summit are consistently praised, as is the enjoyable skiing experience on the blue runs connecting Lech and Zurs. However, the T-bar lift is a notable drawback for many, with some finding it uncomfortable and prone to long queues.
"This is the most beautiful ski run in the world. It takes you from Lech to Zurs. It's mostly blues with some red runs attached to the lifts. There is a cafe lodge about half way around. The only down side is a T bar lift, its rubbish. And I mean rubbish, they need a chair lift for the volume of traffic. You have to queue up a slope and edge around a dog leg on the slope too. The lift operators are a rough bunch and can be very rough in the manner they manhandled you on or off the bar. But it's still an amazing run and worth the ski pass. You can return to Lech using the bus. Unfortunately on busy days getting passed the lift queues to reach the bus stops is hard. Don't hang around in Zurs, Lech is much prettier and has more to offer in food and services."

Tailored advice for your travel style

While the runs themselves are enjoyable, the focus here is more on the stunning views and the connection between Lech and Zurs. For families seeking dedicated beginner areas or extensive ski schools, other parts of the Arlberg might be more appropriate. The Rüfikopf to Zurs Ski Experience
However, the experience is not without its minor drawbacks. A significant point of contention for some is the presence of a T-bar lift along the route. This type of lift can be less comfortable and often leads to longer queues, especially during peak times. Some travelers have noted that lift operators can be rough, adding to the less-than-ideal experience on this specific lift. Despite this, the overall beauty and accessibility of the run often outweigh this inconvenience for most.
For those completing the run to Zurs, returning to Lech is typically done via bus. It's important to note that these buses can also become quite crowded on busy days, so factoring in potential wait times is advisable. Lech itself is often preferred by visitors for its charm and wider range of dining and services compared to Zurs.
Navigating the Rüfikopf Lifts
Once at the top, the ski area utilizes a T-bar lift for accessing certain slopes. This particular lift has been a point of feedback for many visitors. The T-bar can be a bottleneck, leading to queues that require skiers to wait their turn. The process of getting on and off the T-bar, as well as navigating the slope leading to it, has been described as less than ideal by some, with mentions of rough handling by lift operators.
Despite these lift-related challenges, the overall experience at Rüfikopf is highly regarded. The stunning views from the summit and the quality of the ski runs, particularly the descent to Zurs, are consistently praised. Many visitors feel that the breathtaking scenery and the enjoyable skiing make the minor inconveniences of the lifts a worthwhile trade-off.
Culinary Delights at Rüfikopf
The lodge is particularly famous for its Apfelstrudel (apple strudel) and its Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake), often served with a side of plum sauce. These hearty and delicious dishes are a perfect way to warm up and recharge after a morning on the slopes. While mountain dining can sometimes come with a premium price tag, the quality of the food and the unforgettable views make it a highly recommended experience for visitors.
Beyond the Rüfikopf lodge, both Lech and Zurs offer a range of dining options. However, many visitors find Lech to be the more appealing destination for its broader selection of restaurants and services. Whether you're seeking a quick snack or a leisurely meal, the Rüfikopf area and its surroundings cater to various tastes.
