What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Wiener Linien is praised for its extensive and efficient network, making it easy to explore Vienna. However, a significant point of contention is the ticketing system, with many visitors receiving hefty fines due to a lack of understanding regarding ticket validation. While staff are often described as friendly and helpful, the strictness of ticket enforcement can lead to negative experiences.
"And the moment you think you have seen it all..then you are again surprised by the human or non human behaviour of people. While I was freezing with my son ar 14 degrees 2 days ago this BUS Driver did not let us step into his vehicle aldo I explained that we want only to get in because my son is freezing given that the time to leave was just 5 minutes away. Kahlenberg station 04 Aug at 20.39. This person has jothing to lose as a driver. Not to mention the Schumahwr style he had on coming back with passengers."

"I've never been more disgusted or disappointed in a country in my life.
In the past 2 weeks I've been to London, Paris, Interlaken, Rome, and Ljubljana and had no issues with their transport system. my stay in Vienna was only 2 days and I am so disappointed and disgusted in the transport system and it's staff that not only will I never come back, I plan to tell everyone I meet to never come here.
I spent the evening at Prater at their theme park and on the way home I was ambushed by 3 officers checking tickets. I showed them the ticket I purchased only minutes earlier only for them to fine me almost $200 Australian dollars because the ticket wasn't validated.
I work with the police back home and your staff were rude and quite threatening for no reason. I had purchased a ticket for every trip I went on but In my short time here I was unable to understand your confusing system .
The lack of empathy or understanding from your staff is disgusting. Accidents and honest mistakes do happen and in law enforcement - a little compassion goes a long way.
Every other country you go through a turntable or your ticket IS a ticket.
Yes, I admit that I should have had a better understanding before coming BUT your system is confusing and for you to smack visitors with 100 euro fine especially when I only JUST bought the ticket is an abomination.
I would like to request that you reverse the transaction and give me my money back but I don't believe there's any decent people in this country now. I'm happy to be proven wrong.
Even if you don't give my money back - you need to fix your ticketing system because it is atrocious."

"Problems all the time, lines cancelled, delayed every day, even leaving 15 min early, you arrive 15 min late."
