Last night we were invited to @mayerampfarrplatz.pfarrwirt. The Heurigen concept is very popular in Austria, and it was so nice to try traditional Austrian food in this cozy atmosphere. But there was another highlight of the evening: the upper floor of the restaurant courtyard is actually Beethoven’s former house. He wrote his 9th Symphony here! That was such a surprise for me. Reviews Summary

Mayer am Pfarrplatz is celebrated for its stunning, tranquil atmosphere, delicious food, and excellent local wines, offering a truly authentic Viennese experience. While some find the prices on the higher side, many visitors feel they are very reasonable for the quality and historical significance. The service can be a point of contention, with some experiencing unfriendliness, while others praise it as top-notch.

"Stunning and lovely place. So tranquil and relaxing. Amazing food, amazing wine and great service. I saw in the other reviews that prices were high, which is complete nonsense. Not sure what those people did, but the prices are very good and any other claim should not be taken serious. The service is also top. A must visit in Vienna."

Tommy Boman

"Very disappointed 😞 Even though the location itself is great, beautiful outside seating area, the service was horrendous. The waiters barely came over our table even though the place was not busy. When I asked about the wine, the waitress was extremely unfriendly and unhelpful, basically told I should just order and see how it tastes 🤦‍♀️ Same at the buffet - the serving lady couldn't explain what half of the cheeses were. The food was ok, but overall, it was pretty pricy - both the food and the wine. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place."

Viktoriya Peeva

"The house where Beethoven once resided and wrote his famed Ninth Symphony now turned to a wine house and bistro. Known as "Beethoven's Heuriger" it has even created a special wine called "Beethoven Viennese White" to honor the composer. The house is a protected historical landmark, and visitors to the winery can still see the rooms where Beethoven lived. The setting has been described as being so well-preserved that it feels as if time has stood still, with many details from Beethoven's own descriptions of the surroundings still visible today."
