What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Spittelberg Christmas Market is praised for its cozy, local atmosphere and unique handmade crafts, offering a charming alternative to larger markets. While some find the selection less varied than other markets, the delicious and reasonably priced food, especially the potato pancakes, is a major draw. It's a favorite for its intimate setting and authentic feel.
"I really liked this market.
They have a hashbrown food stall here which is just amazing, for what it was I was really impressed. If your here you should try it, maybe go heavier on the garlic oil and literally a pinch of salt on just one side.
The market as well is really nice and cosy, the stall owners too a vested interest in who we were and were happy to welcome a conversation.
The fact the market twist within the streets is a pretty cool layout, removes the bundling of people in a way that you might find in the bigger markets.
We stumbled into a side bar within the market that had an outside bar as well, however after spending a lot of time in the cold the inside option was greatly welcomed.
Overall this was a nice and well presented market offering a lot more locally made and sourced goods.
Happily return here in the future."

"Vienna’s coziest little lanes turned into a winter fairy tale."

"Definitely popular with the locals, but as a tourist visiting, it was one of my least favorite markets. The quality of the items and the variety did not seem to match several of the other markets that were in my top five. My favorite however was the potato pancake! Quite the line to wait for that one. Worth a visit to check the box and get the pancake as no other market had these that I recall in December 2024."
