The building provides a venue for elderly Bahraini ladies to pass on the art of the Kurar to younger generations. The Shaikh Ebrahim Center furthermore promotes the art and production of Kurar by supporting the artisans in their production and marketing of Kurar-embroidered clothes.

Kurar is a form of embroidery using a golden thread. The Kurar ribbon is created amongst a minimum of three women at a time and immediately embroidered onto a garment. After the Kurar ribbon is completed and sown onto a garment, it is burnished to give it its characteristic shine and final touch."
