What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Baikka Beel Sanctuary is praised for its natural beauty, especially its role as a habitat for numerous resident and migratory birds and its stunning lotus blooms. Visitors find it a unique spot for photoshoots and peaceful moments. However, the lack of well-maintained facilities and occasional issues with unofficial entry fees are noted drawbacks.
"This place is actually beautiful. I visited here November month, but the best time to visit in month of December, January because the migratory birds come here this time. I had not seen any migratory birds in November. When i visit this place is under uncared as the authority had not taken any step for visitors to see the surrounding area. The authority should take some measures like clean washroom facility, Nouka (boat) service and other facility to draw the attention of visitors. However, i find the place Unique for photoshot, some time pass with your beloved person."

"Visited Baikka Beel in winter and it was absolutely beautiful. Lots of birds around this time. Entry is free. There is a watchtower but sometimes the guards don’t allow entry. We managed to get up there after a little convincing and it was worth it."

"Baikka Beel is a freshwater wetland sanctuary located in Moulvibazar district, within the Hail Haor wetland ecosystem of north-eastern Bangladesh.
It is particularly famous for:
Bird habitat – Home to thousands of resident and migratory birds, especially in winter (ducks, herons, egrets, and sometimes rare species like the Pallas’s fish eagle).
Fish sanctuary – Established in 2003 to protect native fish species, helping restore biodiversity and support local livelihoods.
Scenic beauty – Surrounded by green paddy fields and reed beds, with seasonal water lilies and lotus adding to the charm.
Ecotourism – Wooden watchtowers and boat rides allow visitors to enjoy birdwatching, photography, and nature walks.
It’s managed with community involvement, making it both a conservation area and a source of sustainable income for locals."
