What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Animal Flower Cave for its stunning natural beauty, unique cave formations, and the refreshing swim in its natural pools. The oceanfront restaurant receives high marks for its delicious Bajan cuisine and breathtaking views. While some found the tour a bit rushed, the overall experience is highly recommended as a must-see attraction in Barbados.
"I had a great experience at both the restaurant and the cave.
The food was absolutely delicious and I think everyone should try the lamb stew. The service is also great with the staff being very attentive and friendly. The view is so nice and the breeze helps on a very hot day. There’s also a playground, shops in the area, and a nice lookout spot.
The cave tour was well worth it. Our tour guide was very nice and even helped my kids navigate the slippery rocks. The view from the cave is very nice and the swim at the end is so worth it. The water was chilly but perfect in the heat. If you’re not the best swimmer, no worries, it starts off shallow and gradually gets a bit deeper so you’ll be fine. This was one of my favorite tours in Barbados and I would do it again."

"My second visit to this place, We visited here as part of our Island Tour! listen, the view here is astonishing! The ocean, the cliffs, everything is very scenic and beautiful. There is also a restaurant here but we did not have time to sample the food. Just be careful near the edge of the cliffs!
There are changing rooms with ample room so you can change into your swimwear and out at the end of the Tour. The cave itself is accessed down a very steep flight of concrete stairs. Once at the bottom our guide carefully guided us around a series of small pools with lots of information.
The last pool is the swimming area which ranges from 2ft to about 8ft at the deepest.
Waves pound the entrance so getting too close to the sea is forbidden. The guide is there to keep you safe also. I have to say he worked hard with a small group of 2. After the Tour there's a chance to look at locally produced art and crafts. An amazing experience with an added twist. After the tour is finished there is a reasonably priced restaurant serving authentic Bajan cuisine which was the cherry on top of the experience.
Barbados is the only coral island in the West Indies, The cave has a coral floor which is estimated to be about 400,000 to 500,000 years old. Whereas the younger coral section above the main floor is about 126,000 years old. We were able to plenty of animal flowers inside the pools, which was an amazing experience."

"We had a lunch reservation at 1pm on a Wednesday. The restaurant was not crowded and we were sat at what one of the staff members called the best table (I agree).
The food menu was hard to choose from because everything sounded fantastic. We tried the beans and rice with jerk chicken, and the sizzling garlic shrimp. The shrimp was not sizzling but delicious nonetheless. My partner loved the jerk chicken.
Afterwards we got tickets to go down to the cave. We only waited for about 5 minutes before we were put in a small group with a guide. We wore sneakers and with careful stepping, that was perfectly fine to navigate the rockiness of the cave. I would not recommend flip flops or barefoot.
The cave was otherworldly. We didn’t swim, but just sitting in and exploring the cave was an incredible experience. Our guide had interesting facts and info as we went.
Take your time to explore the lookout points and shops. The viewpoint behind the building where you buy your cave ticket is phenomenal. Nature is beautiful 🌊😍"
