What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
FOMU Fotomuseum Antwerpen generally receives praise for its high-quality, inspiring, and well-curated photography exhibitions, with many visitors highlighting specific shows as exceptional. The museum's shop and library are also frequently commended. However, some visitors feel the admission price is high for the perceived value, especially if the current exhibitions don't strongly align with their interests.
"We visited the photo museum for two hours and were quite blown away by the quality and content! Not sure what would meet us, camera or techniques or exhibitions of photos, this is definitely the latter one. There are currently three parts: the permanent exhibit, one on (famously) war photographer Lee Miller and at the top - an amazing live performance about the changes in Iran the last 50 years and its impact on a refugee family. Incorporating storytelling, the visual images, music, traditional instruments with modern looping and effects escalating into an unbearable tornado of emotions, it almost makes the visitor wish to escape as fast as possible.
Highly recommend it!"
Rolv Marius Faleide
"Absolutely not worth the €12 admission price. To be honest, the exhibits were barely worth charging for: I've seen plenty of similar standard stuff in other European cities for free.
I filled my time (and salvaged some value) there by browsing some books (by far better photographers) in their library. And ordered one of them off eBay."
Michael Kilpatrick
"Definitely worth a visit if you’re into photography and in Antwerp. Experience depends on the exhibits on display when you visit, but have never left disappointed. The current Lee Miller in print exhibit is beautifully curated."
