What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Prowse Point Military Cemetery a deeply moving and well-maintained site, particularly for its historical significance and peaceful atmosphere. Its proximity to the Christmas Truce Memorial adds another layer of poignancy. While the cemetery itself is highly regarded, some note that the adjacent memorial could benefit from better upkeep.
"The only military cemetery named after a person, very close to the Christmas truce Cross and down the road from The Ploegsteert Memorial to the missing and in walking distance from a number of small cemeteries in the woods. A very moving place"
Stewart Woodruff
"One of 200 Commonwealth cemeteries that are dotted principally around Europe in memory of those who lost their lives in the Great War and World War Two; Prowse Point is a memorial to WWI and is right next door to the 1914 Christmas True memorial.
There are several other cemeteries to visit in the area, most within walking distance. The number of cemeteries really hits home the enormity of the Great War, the area which it covered and the number of those who gave their lives. Incredibly sad but it is good to be able to visit the cemeteries and to learn a little more about those who lie here. Prowse Point is well maintained, not very large but it does enjoy a slight raised position overlooking the adjoining countryside."
Tim Griffiths
"Named after a very brave man who went to the same school as I did.
Sadly he died later in the First World War but the surprise attack that he orchestrated here was not only successful but achieved without casualties."
