Where to go in west Flanders?
I've been living in Belgium for 11 years and never did any sort of turism in west Flanders, except Bruges and the coast. Any suggestion of places to visit?

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Yser Tower for its profound historical insights into WWI and the Flemish Front, with many highlighting the stunning panoramic views from the summit. The sequential museum exhibits and reconstructed trenches are frequently cited as impactful and thought-provoking. However, some find the accessibility challenging for those with mobility issues, and recommend bringing snacks due to limited facilities.
"The Yser Tower (IJzertoren) is a significant monument and museum complex located near the Yser river in Diksmuide, Belgium. It serves as a memorial for the soldiers who died on the Yser Front during World War I and as a European peace monument.
The tower stands 84 meters (276 ft) high and is shaped like a cross. It bears the inscription "Nooit meer Oorlog" (No more War) in four languages and the abbreviation "AVV-VVK" (All for Flanders-Flanders for Christ), making it a symbol of Flemish nationalism.
It houses the Museum at the Yser, which covers 22 floors dedicated to the story of the Belgian-German front during WWI, the Flemish emancipation movement, and the principle of peace.
The original tower was built between 1928 and 1930 but was destroyed in 1946 due to its association with collaboration during World War II. The current tower was rebuilt next to the original ruins and finished in 1965."

"A monument worthy to visit.
Gives a good overview of what happened over time
Look at the entrance of the tower to the video in order to follow the right path.
You start at the top to work you way down over the levels and enter each time another way of how the history is been explained.
Wheels chairs and rolling equipment is difficult to take with you.
The experience levels are really good.
Go to the toilet before you start and take with you some drinks and/or small snack.
Enjoy"

"An amazing place to visit. Stunning views from the top of the tower and then descend down each floor following the history of The Great War as you go. Thought-provoking and sombre, it holds a mirror up to your humanity and asks you to question the narratives given by media during wars. Tales of bravery and resistance woven throughout and you can even walk through the trenches and see what living conditions were like. Thoroughly worth a visit. Make sure to read all the boards, watch the videos and open the 8 flags...."
