What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the breathtaking views and dramatic cliffs of Le Hérou Ridge, comparing them to fantasy landscapes. The rugged trails offer a challenging yet rewarding hiking experience, with many appreciating the solitude. However, the poorly marked trails can lead to confusion and longer-than-expected hikes.
"Rocks and water. The views rival any hike I have done in the Ardennes. I parked at the old Belvédère restaurant in Nadrin and set off. It was a cool October day, but by the end, I was walking in just my shirt.
The climb upstream was perfect: water gurgling over stones, moss soft underfoot, the air crisp and alive. Hiking on top of Le Hérou, this dramatic rock formation along the Ourthe River, felt like stepping into a secret fantasy land. Its cliffs rise 80 meters, and the rocks stretch for over a kilometer, a petrified spine watching silently over the valley.
The trails are rugged, sometimes requiring climbing and scrambling over rocks, but the effort rewards you with panoramic views of the river and Ardennes forest. In the end, you understand it if you’d walk there."

"After all these years traveling around Belgium this is still one of my favourite spots 😍
There’s just something about the majestic cliffs that leaves you breathless when hiking on them (or it’s the fact that you’re climbing down and up 😅). Park at the abandoned hotel and go straight next to it into the forest. After a few minutes you’ll see the cliffs where you can follow its path until you can go down by chains. Then follow the river on the right all the way round to get back up through the forest to the parking lot."

"Natural Park it is! Everything was clean and clear and most of what we saw was well maintained. Will come here again to enjoy the nature.
+ We barely saw other people on our route, so that is a plus if you like the solitude that nature provides."
