"Beautiful church, we went inside to see the paintings (some were being restored)"
Mihaela Dumitriu
"Beautiful and historic structure."
Abdul Rahman Aziz Satar
"This beautiful, harmonious baroque church was originally dedicated by the Jesuits to St Ignatius and St Francis Xavier, but later it changed name. It has 14 confessional boxes built into the wall and this is fine example of Mechelen woodcarving. Legend says that the church had so many confessional boxes because it is located near the Cattle Market where lying and cheating were rife. However, the real reason was that the Church of St Peter and Paul was originally a pilgrimage church containing numerous relics. You were not allowed to touch them unless you were free from sin. Hence the large number of confessional boxes."
