What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Mons Memorial Museum is praised for its informative exhibits on local military history, particularly WWI and WWII, and its compelling portrayal of the Belgian resistance. Visitors appreciate the helpful staff and the opportunity for in-depth learning, though some find the low lighting and small font on plaques challenging.
"Interesting museum of local war history. Museum is well laid out and presented very well
Take in the video at the start. I usually bypass these but glad I watched this one as it led me on an extended tour of the area. After viewing I decided I had to visit the grave of Marguerite Bervoets a local hero. Interred in the nearby cemetery Cimeterie de Mons where I paid my respects.😔
Staff in the museum were very helpful. Small gift shop with souvenirs and restrooms downstairs"

"Very informative and interesting. Runs along a time line from the 18th century but is mostly WW1 and WW2. Well worth watching the documentary in the room on the right past the ticket office. This explains a lot about the Belgian resistance.
The low lighting, probably to protect the exhibits, does make some plaques difficult to read. Easy enough to spend 3 hours reading.
Toilets clean. Friendly staff."

"I went to the museum with a work group and we were taken on a guided tour, the exhibits were good and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. I would recommend the museum to anyone who is interested in finding out about the military history of the area."
