Mu.ZEE is praised for its calm atmosphere and excellent collection of Belgian modern and contemporary art, particularly works by Spilliaert and Ensor. Visitors appreciate the helpful staff and the museum's convenient seaside location. However, some find the logic of the permanent exhibition unclear and have noted issues with the audio guide system.
"A very calm and enjoyable experience that allows for a relaxed viewing of mostly Belgian modern and contemporary art, with a large collection of Léon Spilliaert and James Ensor works. It is a short walk - through the Leopoldpark - from the city’s center."
Nikos Parastatidis
"Museum dedicated to Belgian art well worth the visit, definitely as a Belgian. There was a wonderful exhibition on Anna Boch while I was there. In a few months there will be a James Ensor exhibition I am sure will be a must-visit!"
Charlotte
"It's one of these museums where the previous exhibition has already finished, and you only see its catalogues in the museum shop, and the next exhibition is not there yet.
I'm not sure I understood the logic of the permanent exhibition (spanning years from late 19th cent to mid-20th). A couple of paintings and applied art are quite good.
The small exhibition on Raoul De Kayser is definitely worth a detour.
A special thanks goes to the museum staff, who are extra nice and helpful."
