Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise St. John's Cathedral for its profound historical significance and unique architecture, particularly its construction from ship ballast bricks. Many are impressed by its age and its status as the oldest Anglican cathedral in Central America. While it's a place of worship, its historical value makes it a compelling stop for tourists.
"This a beautiful and very historical church built over 200 years ago, it's one over the only churches outside on England that saw the coronation of a monarch!.. this church was built from bricks from England that were used as the ballast for ships used by mahogany traders and when the ships were loaded the bricks were left behind. The church was built over the years from those bricks! It is one of the only old buildings built from bricks (all the other original colonial homes were made from the mahogany that grows everywhere in the area at that time and are still standing strong)."
David Watson-Weyrick
"What a beautiful church! It's small but the history of the church is amazing and the age of the church wow! It's like stepping into a time machine."
Al Sesler
"Beautiful historic church, over 200 years old. Hand built, many pieces still from the original builders. Almost daily services and daily tours."
