Visitors rave about the vibrant marine life and the picturesque sunsets. However, some reviews highlight concerns about plastic pollution, urging for greater environmental consciousness.

"Amazing island! Crystal blue waters, awesome snorkeling. To walk around the island is about 15-20 minutes so it’s pretty small. We took a small boat here, stayed a few hours, had lunch and it was fantastic. There’s some chairs and hammocks, and there is a bathroom."

"I will go against the other reviews, not to criticise needlessly, but so that all of us, tourists of Belize & locals, become aware of the dramatic problem that is plastic, and hopefully all be actors and not just spectators of the situation. This country and the cayes are magical, but I’m surprised that no one talks about the plastic in the water and the trash you can see on the island.
During our snorkeling session in one part of the island, we saw so much plastic in the water that our snorkeling, quickly turned into a bottle and plastic cleanup session. There was indeed a lot of wind, and we were told several times that the waste/plastic comes from Guatemala and Honduras.
But Moho Caye is a private caye. I am very surprised that someone who can afford to buy a caye and charges a fee to snorkeling/diving agencies that stop for lunch on the island is not doing any prevention or cleanup on the island itself and is not making even the minimum effort to clean up the waters around the caye.
In practice, here is what we observed:
- No signs for tourists to raise awareness
- No trash bins ( I am aware that picking up trash in Belize is not easy, but still maybe one trash at least )
- No guard/ranger to ensure the cleanliness of the area
- No messages/awareness from the tourism agencies
So, I felt compelled to write because Belize is truly a paradise, and I've seen too many places where marine life and nature have disappeared due to human activity and trash/plastic. This situation deeply affected us, and I hope that all of us can be actors of a positive change, talk about it, prevent, be careful and preserve this wonderful marine life."
