Reviews Summary

Cachoeira Grande is praised for its beautiful waterfall and refreshing swimming opportunities, with an easy trail suitable for most visitors. While many enjoy the natural beauty and the option to relax by the calmer Rio Cipó, some find the entrance fee to be quite expensive. Concerns have also been raised about the consistency of on-site amenities like lifeguards.

"A lovely place. Swimming at the big waterfall was a lot of fun. Rocks we're a bit slippery but it was great on a warm day. Expensive but well maintained. That being said, we were told the price was because there was a lifeguard there to watch over us. We never saw him. I don't think there actually was one."

Ike Ichael

"This place is simply amazing!

The waterfall is beautiful and has enough place to swim. Personally I liked a lot the other side of the waterfall, the Cipó river. So calm and peaceful! You can enjoy the river literally by yourself.

To reach the big waterfall, you need to walk around 1km and the trail is very easy. Small kids and eldery people can do it easily. The entrance fee is 30 real but it is well deserved!"

Bo-sung Kim

"Great place to come to relax and have a day out with friends or family. The price is quite expensive R$30 each, so plan to spend the whole day. Bring your swimming gear as it's a good place to swim. Also bring a picnic but no BBQ's or alcohol."

Navigating the Entrance Fee

The entrance fee for Cachoeira Grande Serra do Cipó is a point of discussion among visitors. While some reviews mention fees around R$30, others report R$50 per person.Reddit+1 This cost is for entry into a private park, distinct from the public Serra do Cipó National Park which often has free access to its trails and waterfalls.Reddit Some visitors feel the fee is steep, especially when comparing it to larger, more renowned natural attractions. However, others find the fee justified by the upkeep of the facilities and the direct access to the impressive Cachoeira Grande waterfall. It's a good idea to budget for this fee and consider it an investment in a full day of enjoyment and access to a beautiful natural spot.

It's worth noting that the justification for the fee has sometimes been linked to the presence of a lifeguard. However, some visitors have reported not seeing a lifeguard during their visit, leading to questions about the value proposition.Reddit If you're on a tight budget, exploring the free areas of the Serra do Cipó National Park might be a more suitable option, as many visitors report these areas are also well-maintained and offer stunning natural beauty.Reddit

Experiencing the Waterfall Safely

Cachoeira Grande is a highlight for many visitors, offering a chance to swim in a sizable natural pool. The waterfall itself is impressive, and the surrounding scenery is picturesque.Reddit However, a key safety consideration mentioned by travelers is the slipperiness of the rocks around the waterfall. The refreshing water is a major draw, especially on warm days, but always prioritize safety. If you're unsure about the conditions or have concerns, it's best to observe the area carefully before entering the water. Some reviews mention the presence of a lifeguard, but this isn't always consistent, so self-reliance for safety is important.Reddit
