"O prédio data de 1914, projetado pelo arquiteto e engenheiro civil Alexandre Albuquerque.
Inicialmente abrigou o “Araraquara College” e, em 1919, a Prefeitura Municipal instalou a “Escola Mackenzie”, ligada ao Mackenzie de São Paulo. Em 1933, o prédio foi cedido ao Governo do Estado de São Paulo que instalou o "Ginásio Estadual de Araraquara”, o qual, em 1940, passou a se denominar-se “Ginásio e Escola Normal de Araraquara”. Nascia, assim, o tradicional “Instituto de Educação Bento de Abreu”. Entre 1960 e 1973, o prédio foi ocupado pela Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras de Araraquara, criada em 1959.
Em novembro de 1981, o prédio foi tombado pelo CONDEPHAAT e, em 11 de novembro de 1982, o prédio foi reinaugurado como Casa da Cultura. Em 1988, passou a chamar-se “Luís Antônio Martinez Corrêa”, homenagem ao ilustre teatrólogo araraquarense, morto em 1987.
Feita essa introdução, cumpre dizer que o prédio não está em boas condições, necessitando de manutenção, limpeza, segurança, etc."
