Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the stunning natural beauty of Jamaraquá, particularly the giant Samaúma tree and refreshing igarapés. The community's warmth and traditional practices are also highlights. However, some reviewers noted that tours can be primarily in Portuguese, with limited in-depth biological information, and lunch timing can be late if not included.

"The tour was only in Portugese, because I think only one guide speaks English. Showing us the method for pulling rubber from the tree was interesting, the little river, and big tree was cool too.

The hike was pretty long, which meant that eating lunch takes place at 4pm, which for 50 BRL each I would have expected more.

The guide showed mostly "we eat this bark for this illness", which is cool, but at some point I want to hear about the biology of the forest which is not their strong suit. I would not recommend this tour to someone who wants in depth knowledge of the forest. Just felt like we paid to see a cool tree and river.

Our tour agent (in town and unrelated) screwed us by not setting us up with the only English speaking guide and I effectively grasped nothing. The agent tried convincing another customer to translate for me, but she didn't (which is no fault of her)."

Dwayne Alex

"The community was very nice. The forest is amazing. The natural pool is a must see.
But the english guide called 'Frankie' is not good. We organized in advance to have the tour with him in english and fixed a price, but when we started he wanted to charge us extra for speaking in english. We luckily had another guest with us, who was able to speak english and translate.
But besides that, everyone was very disappointed in how he guided us. His knowledge of the forest is very basic, most of the time we did not get the information we wanted."

Jack

"The place is beautiful, with all the forest and “igarapés” where you can enjoy a nice bath integrated with the nature.
ATENTION in Tapajós river...isn’t nice to bath because have lots of manta ray hidden in the sand.
People in community is helpful with tourists, but deeply they are very selfish between them.
Ask for Dido...he’s one of the oldest in vila and a very friendly and nice guide. :)
Handcraft store offer a lot of pieces with seeds and rubber, but in a mix of various kind of quality together, because people don’t do job in group...each family develops own methods, sadly avoiding natural pigments, using chemicals."
