"Matias Barbosa is a municipality of Minas Gerais that is really close to Rio de Janeiro. It's less than two hours and a half drive. The haras (which means a equestrian venue, but it is far from what this place is) is within this municipality and you only need to drive few minutes of dirty road which is not even that bad to get there. Hotel rooms are amazing, huge, fit 4 people easily. They work on a all you can eat resort style. There are tennis courts, football and golf fields including a simulator, a lovely pond filled with mineral water and the place is full of activities including hiking and all sorts of sports, like volleyball inside the swimming pool and water polo. The only downside for me was the quality of the meals. It's not bad but also not superb as all the rest of your experience there. Meat are not the premium ones, for instance for the barbecue and so on. I do recommend the experience. It is worth it."
