Reviews Summary

"Had an impromptu tour from Raul (curator?) of this lovely historic fort which is a great place to visit if you are in Paraty. Raul is a genuine enthusiast who told us all about the British guns that were given to Brazil by King George - apparently they were only fired once in 1822 and then only to celebrate an historic occasion. They looked great though, pointing out across the bay! He also told us the history of the indigenous craftsmen in this part of Brazil and spent lots of time with us despite the fort being officially closed for maintenance!"

"I'm not sure whether the museum is worth paying for to visit, but the place is worth walking to for the trees and the views. It's a short stroll from the old town of Paraty."

"The exhibition contains very few items, but the posters on the walls offer interesting information on the history of Paraty, and as well the history of Brazil. Access is for free. Very nearby are stunning views of nature and we saw big birds as well as turtles."
