Recomendo"

A Glimpse into History
The construction of the present-day church commenced in 1855 and was completed in 1888. A significant event during this period was the installation of the first bells, which were transported from the Jesuit Missions via a challenging oxcart journey. The area in front of the church was historically the site for the 'Festas do Divino Espírito Santo,' a tradition with Azorean origins. Bricks from the former Imperial building and the bell house, after their demolition, were repurposed for the foundations of the Escola Dom Feliciano. The church itself is a beautiful example of Portuguese Baroque style.
