Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Maroaga Wildlife Refuge for its beautiful Amazonian trails, refreshing stream walks, and intriguing caves. The experience is often described as fantastic and totally worth it, especially when accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide. Some find the trails challenging due to slipperiness and roots, and the cost of guides can be a consideration.

"Although I visited during dry season (no waterfalls sadly), the walk down to the caves/falls was beautiful and a great way to hear the sounds of the Amazon. At the bases is a shallow area to wallow in, and you'll walk through a stream that is knee deep at one point. You'll also find caves you can duck into and explore, just please do so quietly as there are birds/bats that rest here and I believe it is illegal to disturb them. (A guide will tell you this) It was truly an experience. Wear good shoes, this trail can be a bit slippery at points and the way up is full of roots so you'll want to protect your feet. (They do offer rubber boots, but you will have to pay to rent and they're not so useful once wet)"

"One of the cooler places to come visit in the town of Presidente de Figueredo. It’s a bit out of the way but you can get there easily by way of moto taxi."

Gustavo Espinoza Jr

"I rode my motorcycle there in the rain. The whole 1.5 walk was in the rain with a guide who didn’t speak English. But I loved it. A beautiful walk. Great waterfalls. Knee deep in the river. I just wore my running shoes but you can hire gum boots. I was the only person so I had to pay$R120 but it was worth it."
