What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Museu do Aleijadinho for its well-preserved heritage house and informative guided tours, with some guides offering excellent English. However, some reviews express skepticism about the authenticity of certain exhibits and the narrative presented, suggesting a focus on profit over historical accuracy in some aspects.
"Aleijadinho’s house tour was great! Got to see a pretty well preserved heritage house, the tour was in Portuguese (my friend translated for me an english speaker).
Only thing I didn’t really understand was the place sells Cachaça (mini tasting session post house tour). Not sure what was the link between selling Cachaça in Aleijadinho’s house when he didn’t brew Cachaca."
Jane Lee
"I arrived around 6pm and very kindly they still offered me a free guided tour in Portuguese before they close. The guide João Paulo was very helpful and informative and he is also an official guide for Ouro Preto if anyone should need a guide for other attractions. It was a nice visit to learn more about the history of the town. Highly recommended!"
