Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi for its incredible value and the unique opportunity to experience a slice of the Amazon rainforest within the city. The affordable entrance fee and the chance to see native flora and fauna are major highlights. However, some reviewers note that certain animal enclosures and park infrastructure could benefit from modernization.

"What great value for money . Entrance fee is only 3 Brazilian Real.
We spent several enthralling hours wandering around this little bit of rainforest situated right in the middle of the city . There are maps but I just roamed about the network of paths until I reckon I had seen just about everything outside : the massive trees , the animal & Bird enclosures , the old buildings , the memorials to botanists & biologists & the fantastical " Castle " that was constructed to house a water reservoir . ( It's due for renovation ).
Took a break for a drink at a little cafe near the jaguar enclosure & then visited the Aquarium & finished off by a visit to the wonderful museum where you can see exhibits of artifacts from the various tribal groups living across the Brazilian Amazon Forest.
Even had a short virtual headset session with dinosaurs.
I think some money needs spending on the animal & bird enclosures but this was a really pleasurable way to spend the afternoon ."

"The price for a ticket is 3 BRL, but you can only pay in cash. Overall it was a very nice and relaxing experience. You get a preview of the real Amazon forest. Honestly, it's a shame that there aren't more parks like this in the city."

Cristian Anghel

"The museum was fun but there are improvements I would recommend. The walking paths are almost all sand and the day we went it rained like crazy so our shoes were pretty dirty afterwards. There are also several walking paths without signs so it was a bit difficult to find the attractions."

It functions as both a research center and a public park, offering visitors an accessible way to experience the region's incredible biodiversity. The park features a zoological and botanical garden showcasing native Amazonian fauna and flora, allowing you to see everything from massive trees to various animal species. It's a place where you can truly feel the immensity of the Amazon without venturing deep into the jungle. Reddit

Beyond the natural exhibits, the museum also houses important artifact collections from the indigenous peoples of the Brazilian Amazon. These exhibits provide valuable insights into the cultures, traditions, and history of these communities. The park also contains historical structures, such as the intriguing 'Castle' reservoir, adding another layer of interest for visitors. Despite some areas showing signs of age, the overall experience is highly regarded for its educational value and the opportunity to connect with nature. Reddit

Many visitors highlight the incredible value for money, with an entrance fee of only 3 Brazilian Real. However, it's crucial to remember that cash payment is required for entry. The park's layout, with sandy paths, can become challenging after rain, so wearing appropriate footwear is recommended. Despite minor drawbacks, the Emílio Goeldi Museum is consistently praised as a must-visit for anyone wanting a taste of the Amazonian ecosystem and culture right in the city. Reddit

Navigating the Park and Its Paths
