"O Parque Estadual Mata da Pimenteira foi a primeira unidade de conservação criada pelo governo de Pernambuco no Domínio fitogeográfico das Caatingas. O PEMP possui um vegetal de extrato arbóreo-arbustivo com árvores típicas da Caatinga como Umbuzeiro (Spondias tuberosa), Baraúna (Schinopsis brasiliensis) e Aroeira (Myracrodruon urundeuva) e também as famosas cactáceas: Mandacaru, Xique-Xique, Facheiro, rabo de raposa, Coroa de frade, Quipá. A fauna é rica e exuberante... É possível ver com facilidade o roedor mocó (Kerodon rupestris), os lagartos teiú (Salvator merianae), bico-doce (Ameiva Ameiva), a gralha-cancão (Cyanocorax cyanopogon) e dois moradores ilustres o macaco-prego (Sapajus libidinosus) e o Veado-Caatingueiro (Mazama gouazoubira). O PEMP inúmeras trilhas ecológicas para visitação, corpos d'água e um importância biológica imprescindível para a conservação da Caatinga no estado de Pernambuco.
