"Nice natural pool you can go doing a medium-hard trilla, beware that the water comes up and you’ll have to leave your stuff somewhere safe, there were lovely and little crabs, not good for snorkel"

"Way bigger than expected. A must. One of my highlights in brazil.
I suggest walking from middle beach through forest, chill in the natural pools and then get a boat back (they come every 15-20 mins and cost the equivalent of under £3 / person- bring cash!!!)"
Meg Shan
"Amazing. Boat taxi available for 40 BRL per person from Praia do Meio (cash only). They give you a bracelet, so you're free to return anytime. Full day parking 3min from the beach for 50 BRL per day in Feb'24 (where you can pay by card). Once you arrive at the natural pools, try to go towards the second area, where the crowds are much thinner. You can also walk up a 40min trail (1.3km) with some highs & lows over the mountain and a rather long walk on the beach in the sun."

The Hike to Cachadaço
Many visitors find the hike rewarding, describing it as a moderate challenge that builds anticipation for the natural pools. It's advisable to carry plenty of water and wear sun protection like a hat and sunscreen, as parts of the trail are exposed. While the hike is manageable for most, those with significant mobility issues might find it difficult.
An interesting note from travelers is the potential to pass by a small, informal naturist beach along the route. It's important to be respectful of the environment and other visitors, refraining from taking photos without consent.
Navigating the Natural Pools
When visiting, it's crucial to be aware of the tide levels. High tide can reduce the size of the pools and make access more challenging, while low tide reveals the full extent of these natural wonders. Visitors are advised to secure their belongings, as the water can rise unexpectedly. Some travelers suggest heading to the second area of the pools where crowds tend to be thinner, offering a more tranquil experience.
While the pools are beautiful for wading and observing marine life, they are generally not considered ideal for snorkeling due to varying water clarity and the nature of the pools themselves. The experience is more about immersing yourself in the natural environment and enjoying the unique geological formations.
Return Journey Options
It's important to note that these boat taxis primarily operate on a cash-only basis. Travelers should ensure they have sufficient Brazilian Reais on hand to cover the fare, which is usually a fixed price per person. Some reviews mention the cost being equivalent to under £3 per person, but it's always wise to confirm the current rate.
Alternatively, visitors can choose to hike back the way they came, retracing their steps along the trail and beach. This option allows for a second chance to appreciate the coastal scenery and is a good choice for those who enjoy hiking and want to save money.
