Crossing the border from Argentina to Brazil in Iguazu falls bc it’s cheaper to fly - is it safe?

So I’ve never done a border crossing by land before (only by flight), and for some reason I’m a little worried about crossing the border from Argentina to Brazil by land in Puerto Iguazu. I’m an American citizen and I understand I’ll need a visa. I’m going in late Jan/early Feb.…

Reviews Summary

Travelers find the Ponte Tancredo Neves a functional, albeit sometimes lengthy, border crossing between Argentina and Brazil. While the bus system is cost-effective, be prepared for potential waits at immigration and the possibility of needing to catch a subsequent bus. Priority lanes for taxis and buses can expedite the process for some. Reddit

"Border crossing from Argentina to Brazil. You take the bus from the bus station (costs 7k. ARS) bus stops and the Argentinian border control for you to register your exit. When you get out, most probably your bus will be gone,so you wait for another. Then the next bus drops you at Brazilian immigration. Once you officially enter the country, find a bus stop and wait for the next bus. Waiting time can be 40-50minutes. Keep the hold of the tickets all the time!"

Londa Managadze

"Border Crossing Update (Brazil–Argentina)
Crossing the border from Brazil to Argentina on Tuesday at 18:00 took about 30 minutes. Both vehicles and pedestrians had to queue.
The return to Brazil was much faster, with hardly any wait time."

Ulf R

"Really long queues for cars. It's better to do it by taxi/bus since they have a specific priority line. We did it with a motorbike and it was perfect since all the bikes just skip the long lines. Don't feel bad about it, as I said all the bikes do that all the time. Don't forget your passport obviously."
