"45 acres, over 25,000 statues, and 80,000+ graves. You can easily spend hours here.
This cemetery is a labyrinth of massive tombs and graves belonging to famous Brazilian artists, actors, writers, Presidents, musicians, etc. The art and history in this place is incredible.
There is a lot of construction at the top, as it is continously being expanded, but the main features are down at the bottom area anyways. Going to the top is really only neccessary if you would like an aerial view.
Take an Uber/car/taxi, I wouldn't recommend walking through the neighborhood. There isn't a map of grounds (to let you know who is buried where) but most of time you can just ask an attendant if you're looking for someone specific.
Some people have been asked to not take photos but it's mainly because they were not being respectful of where they are stepping, laying on tombs to "get a better angle", and things like that. Just be decent and you won't have a problem."
