What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Trilha do Carteiro for its stunning views of Tiradentes and the refreshing Mata Atlântica flora. The historical significance of the 18th-century stone path adds a unique dimension to the hike. While generally manageable, some recommend a guide for longer traverses of the sierra.
"One of the highlights of my many trips to Tiradentes is hiking at the Serra de São José, the massive mountain formation by the side. It's a beautiful walk, with great views of the region and the refreshing flora of Mata Atlântica. This is the shortest of the hikes, reaching the stone-paved path made in the 18th century, scenario of a dramatic murder connected to the Brazilian attempt to become independent ("Inconfidência Mineira"). I highly recommend the services of "Uai Sô", a travel agency from Tiradentes (Rua dos Inconfidentes, 407), nice local people providing a great service."
