Ancient history girl summer starting off CRAZY!!! Plovdiv is absolutely mindblowing, you can feel the thousands of years of history all through the streets. Literally. Because there are just ancient ruins everywhere. Plovdiv sits on top of the ancient city of Philippopolis, where there have been humans inhabiting the land since at least the 6th millennium BC….can you even conceptualize that becau...

Reviews Summary

Youth Hill Dzhendem Tepe is appreciated for its stunning panoramic city views and unique summit features like the abandoned swimming pool. While the cobblestone paths offer a pleasant walk, some find the amenities limited and caution is advised around the unfenced pool. It's considered a good spot for a stroll and enjoying the scenery, rather than an all-day destination.

"Great views of Plovdiv all the way up including across to Alosha.
A very winding trail up.. all cobbled laid by young people as the books will tell. Some very good short cuts across some of the huge bends. Some atvlower part lead to dead ends. Cobbles were a bit slippery from water runoff after a few days heavy rain... more than ordinary trainers recommended.
The empty swimming pool is still at the top."

Peter B

"Great view of the city and the area around it.

There was a giant fire in town, that looked great at sunset."

Paul V

"Don’t expect something special. It’s an ordinary park to stroll around. There are some benches where you can have some rest and drink a coffee. By the way there are only a few places where you can buy it. There is a space for kids but it’s not so big as it could be. There is a train, mostly for kids, nothing special for adults. Moving on the train is much interesting rather than the panoramic where it stops.
Fountains are empty. Pathways are not so flat. IMHO you could spend a couple of hours there, not a whole day.
BTW there are only a few parking spaces!!!"

The Unique Summit Landscape

Youth Hill Dzhendem Tepe is crowned with a rather unusual combination of structures. Most striking is the empty swimming pool, a relic of a past era that now serves as a peculiar landmark and a popular spot for photos. Adjacent to it are old communication towers, adding a slightly industrial, post-apocalyptic feel to the summit. These elements, set against the backdrop of Plovdiv, create a surreal and memorable experience for visitors.

While the empty pool offers a unique visual, visitors are strongly cautioned to be mindful of its depth and the lack of fencing, especially when accompanied by children. The juxtaposition of these man-made structures with the natural beauty of the hill and the sprawling city below is what makes the summit of Youth Hill a distinctive destination. It's a place that sparks curiosity and offers a different perspective on urban landscapes. Reddit

Navigating the Cobblestone Trails

The ascent to Youth Hill is characterized by its cobblestone paths, meticulously laid by young people, according to local lore. These winding trails offer a pleasant, albeit sometimes challenging, walk or bike ride. The grade is generally easy, making it accessible for most visitors, but the cobbles themselves can present a slight hazard, particularly after rain when they become slippery due to water runoff. Reddit

Travelers often recommend wearing comfortable, sturdy shoes to navigate these surfaces safely. While the main paths are well-defined, some shorter, steeper shortcuts can be found that offer a quicker route to the top. However, it's worth noting that some of these shortcuts may lead to dead ends, so a bit of exploration and caution is advised. The journey up is as much a part of the experience as the views from the summit, offering a chance to appreciate the effort put into shaping the hill's accessibility. Reddit
