"And you think you can't grow cactus in Truro? I've gone quite often, & the garden is in quite a deep "bowl", where there are lots of varieties of cactus, with beautiful flowers, depending on the time of the year. But there's also a lot of other gorgeous trees, shrubs, flowers and other plants - native to Nova Scotia, and other parts of the world. It's a nice little ramble around rocks, over dry-bed streams, under overhanging trees and over little bridges. You can do it fast or slow - it's not too big - and you'll enjoy it either way. Only one problem I encountered - not enough seating (stone benches) for people with lower mobility, & the sandy paths make pushing a wheelchair very hard. [ I took my Mom, but it was a mistake. We got so far, but she couldn't go farther and she was trapped. The car was right there!...if you could skirt past some big rocks and climb over the fence! Luckily, there are lots of very nice and helpful people in Truro. Hardly anyone was around, but I was able to ask a woman going by if she could help me, and we LIFTED Mom over the fence & got her to the car - all in one piece. I just about cried, I was so grateful that someone would go out of her way to help us!] So garden people - could you make it a bit more accessible to wheelchairs and disabled people, please?"
