Least stressful bridges and tunnels in city?

Hello, I am driving up to Montreal from NY in a few weeks and get stressed out driving over high bridges- I get that Montreal is an island so bridges/tunnels are part of the deal but I am willing to detour for less anxiety inducing routes. Any suggestions to definitely avoid?…

Good place to park to walk/run across the Champlain Bridge (on the Montreal side)?

Looking at a map it doesn't look like there is an obvious parking lot on Nuns' Island designed for people to leave their cars and get to the bridge walkway easily, although I do see a shopping mall nearby. So wondering what other people have done. Thanks.

New platform/boardwalk coming in December

$32M from the federal government and apparently the project is on track to complete in December as planned, at least according to the worker directing the entrance to the site. Neat!

Reviews Summary

The Samuel de Champlain Bridge is a vital piece of Montreal's infrastructure, praised for its modern engineering and the stunning panoramic views offered from its multi-use pathway. However, visitors should be prepared for significant traffic congestion during peak hours and strong, potentially challenging winds when using the pedestrian and cycling routes.

"The Samuel-De Champlain Bridge, also known as the Champlain Bridge, is a cable-stayed bridge that was inaugurated in 1962 and the first busiest bridge in Canada. It spans the Saint Lawrence River, linking the Island of Montreal to its South Shore suburbs. The bridge features four lanes in each direction, complete with a dedicated bike lane and walkway for pedestrians. The traffic can be busy on weekdays, and the signage is bilingual, making it a well-designed and convenient bridge for commuters and travellers alike."

"What can I say about this marvel of Montreal engineering? It’s nice to look at but the traffic sucks. If you walk, run, or bike across it it’s a very cool experience but be prepared to get pelted in the face with raging winds. The Jacques Cartier is nicer for pedestrians."

Gabe S

"Has a bicycle path. The road could be a bit difficult because of elevation change (you’ll have to pedal uphill for a while). Don’t have way down to the land strip! Don’t trust google maps if they lead you through this bridge."
