What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Calgary Farmers' Market West is praised for its modern, clean, and spacious environment, making it a pleasant place to visit, especially for families. While it offers a good variety of local produce and artisan foods, some reviewers note that the South location has a wider selection of vendors. It's a worthwhile visit for its atmosphere and unique finds, though perhaps not the ultimate destination for maximum vendor variety.
"This North location is nice, but it doesn’t quite compare to the south location. It’s definitely more modern and very clean, which I appreciated. However, it feels a lot smaller and doesn’t have nearly the same variety of vendors or selection that you’ll find in the south. If you’re in the area, it’s still worth a visit and has a pleasant atmosphere, but for the full farmers’ market experience, I’d recommend the south location, which I’d rate a solid 5 out of 5."

"It is my first time to here. The indoor farmer market is very nice and good size, there are many tables to sit after you but something to eat. My favorite is Yum cakes, the macaroons are sweet and great! I also like the bagels shop. They can get fresh veggies and fruits, but the prices are not cheap. the quality of food is good. It is also a nice place to take kids for browsing together.the parking lot is big and free, spend a half day to visit here when the weather is bad outside."

"Calgery Farm Market was pretty decent overall. They had a good selection of fresh fruits and local produce. There are also quite a few restaurants and food options nearby, which makes it a nice spot for a casual visit. It’s located about half an hour outside the city, so it’s not the most convenient unless you’re already in the area. If you’re a visitor, having a car is definitely necessary. The place was clean and well-maintained, with friendly staff. Not a must-see, but worth checking out if you’re passing through."

The Calgary Farmers' Market Experience: West vs. South
In contrast, the Calgary Farmers' Market South is often lauded for its greater variety and selection of vendors. While the West location offers a sleek, contemporary feel, the South location is frequently recommended for those seeking the 'full farmers' market experience' and a wider array of local products. Both locations are valuable for experiencing Calgary's local food scene, but your choice might depend on whether you prioritize a modern setting or a broader vendor selection.
When planning your visit, consider what you're looking for. If you're in the west end of the city and appreciate a clean, modern environment, CFM West is a great choice. If you're aiming for the widest possible selection of goods and a more established market feel, the South location might be preferable.
