Fernie Cat Skiing.
Wondering if anyone on this sub has been cat skiing in Fernie, BC. I was there years ago but stayed on the lifts. This time I'm looking to do some cat skiing but I'm wondering how cat skiing at Fernie compares to other places. It's one of the only places that isn't booked solid…
Trying to plan some BC catskiing. Looking for some insight.
I live in Jackson Hole and my roommate and I are looking to make a road trip up to BC to do some catskiing sometime in January or February. Trying to find the most cost-effective way to do it and looking for tips on stops along the way. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Island Lake Lodge is celebrated for its stunning mountain setting, exceptional fine dining, and incredibly attentive staff, making it a top choice for weddings and special occasions. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, a few guests have noted instances of less-than-ideal service from specific staff members, though this appears to be an outlier.
"Our good friend had their wedding here, the service and care was amazing. I actually lost my smart ring months and months ago and Karolin and her team were so persistent that they found it months later! It was a very expensive ring and has a lot of data that I needed so I’m so happy the team didn’t give up! Over all an amazing experience even after I left the lodge! Thank you for making it such a special day for our lovely friends! Highly recommend and will likely come back and maybe for a weekend anniversary trip!
Thank you!!!"

"Island Lake Lodge is truly one of the most special places on earth. We had our wedding here and it was the best weekend of our lives. From the very beginning, working with Margot was amazing. She was quick to respond, so accommodating, and just such a wonderful person to work with. Having her by our side made the whole process feel easy and enjoyable.
The staff as a whole is unbelievable. Every single person was so kind, attentive, and thoughtful. They made the weekend seamless so we could truly live in the moment. Our guests are still talking about how cared for they felt and how wonderful every staff member was.
And the food… wow. It wasn’t just the reception dinner that blew people away, but every single meal all weekend. The arrival dinner, Saturday breakfast, Saturday lunch, and Sunday farewell brunch were all absolutely incredible. The food is truly fine dining with every dish plated beautifully and tasting even better than it looked. Our guests are still raving about it weeks later and many said it was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding. Dietary restrictions were handled with so much care and every dish was outstanding.
The setting is unreal. The views are breathtaking, the lodge is beautiful, the rooms are cozy with super comfortable beds, and the little details (like the amazing soaps, saunas, and the way the staff remembered names) made it feel magical. The hikes right from the property are stunning (we especially loved the Goldilocks Loop and Mt. Baldy) and some of our guests even spotted bears on the drive in!
On past visits we’ve also experienced the Tamarack Dining Room, the Bear Bistro, and the spa, and each one was just as incredible. The food, the service, and the overall atmosphere are consistently outstanding. Every time we’ve been here, we’ve left feeling cared for and reminded of how special this place is.
We will never forget our time here. Between the food, the staff, the views, and the overall experience, Island Lake Lodge is beyond extraordinary and will always hold a special place in our hearts. We feel so grateful and cannot wait to come back for anniversaries :)"

"I grew up in Fernie and always dreamed of having my wedding at Island Lake Lodge. When the day finally came, it was beyond anything I could have imagined. The setting is absolutely breathtaking, tucked away in the mountains, and it gave us that “wow” moment I had always pictured.
The food deserves a special mention — every single meal was incredible. From start to finish, everything was fresh, beautifully prepared, and so delicious. Our guests are still talking about how amazing it was!
The staff were also out of this world. Everyone we met was so kind, professional, and incredibly attentive. They made us feel cared for and really went the extra mile to make the day special.
I especially want to thank Margot, our wedding coordinator. She was truly the best — always calm, always prepared, and always had an answer for my (sometimes frantic!) bride questions. She totally understood what I wanted and made the whole process feel easy and stress-free.
Having our wedding at Island Lake Lodge was an absolute dream come true, and I can’t recommend it enough to anyone looking for the perfect venue."
