Reviews Summary
Edelweiss Village in Golden, BC, is praised for its beautifully restored historic chalets and stunning mountain views, offering a unique and cozy stay. However, some guests have encountered issues with chalet maintenance, noise from the nearby highway, and challenging access to certain units. Despite ongoing renovations, the charm and historical significance are consistently highlighted.
"Our family of four—two adults and two kids—had an absolutely wonderful stay at Edelweiss Village in Golden, BC. This place really is a hidden gem and honestly feels like the best-kept secret in Golden.
The chalet was spotless, cozy, and had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable, and we had plenty of space to spread out and feel at home. The kids loved the board games and toys that were provided, which was such a nice touch and kept them busy in the evenings.
The views are incredible. Walking out onto the balcony first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee was one of my favourite parts of the trip. There’s also a swing outside with a beautiful view of Kicking Horse Mountain, and our kids spent a lot of time there taking it all in.
Even though there are some renovations happening on the property, everything was still clean and well kept. You can tell they’re putting a lot of care into the upgrades, and the new spa is going to be amazing when it’s finished.
Overall, Edelweiss Village was perfect for our family—comfortable, quiet, and truly beautiful. We would go back in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Golden."

"What a fantastic find. Historic buildings made for Swiss guides being restored and showcasing the areas history.
The chalet we stayed in was beautifully restored with all the modern conveniences you would want on holidays. Beds were very comfortable best sleep so far on our 3 week trip ( truck noise didn’t bother us, barely noticeable). Wifi for the teenager. Dishwasher so no washing up! Fire to sit by at night. We just loved our stay. Thank you so much and also for keeping these beautiful pieces of history alive. We especially loved the photos around the chalet and the books on the history of the area. Will definitely be following the progress of this gem. Clearly still a work in progress with landscaping and other small bits to be finished but nothing that detracts from your stay here. The site manager came during our stay to check everything was in order and gave us fantastic tips for eating out and made sure everything great. Thanks for a great stay."

"We stayed in Chalet Heimann and we were not happy or satisfied. We could not park our vehicle near the door, they closed off the small access road (permanently) leading to our Chalet. We had to haul all our luggage up and down 44 gravel/wooden steps at an angle from 30-40 degrees, it was exhausting!
We were given a code to enter but there weren’t any instructions on how to lock the door when we wanted to leave. We had to call their head office and the local guy to get the answer. The solution to this issue was extremely simple but it seemed that the local guy wasn’t interested in leaving a note or putting a label on the outside of the door to explain. When entering we were shocked on how filthy the exterior and interior windows were, the view was spoiled. When we opened the sofa bed the mattress cover had spots of blood, crumbs and hair, disgusting! The local guy brought a new cover. The electric kettle was dangerous and had to be replaced, the lights on the hood range didn’t work and could not be solved by a bulb change, burned out bulbs in the kitchen as well. We could have used instructions on how to operate the complicated cook top.
The airconditioning was on the lower level but not the upper level. The upper level was very hot! If we opened any windows upstairs (no screens) the sound of the Trans Canada Highway below was overwhelming! Just below us was a red light so the big rigs were loud gearing down to stop and then accelerating. The king bed in the upper bedroom had an extremely firm mattress and my wife had to go to a chiropractor the next day and then she used the sofa bed for the rest of our 5 day stay.
The view has mountains but the noisy wood mill below and to the left was in operation 24/7. None of the widows on the lower level opened unless you left the main door open and used the screen door, no security.
We were shocked to see that the bathroom window and a large window just outside the bathroom didn’t have any window coverings. We were totally exposed to a foot path outside the bathroom window and a chalet above and next to us. We went into town and bought 2 cheap shower curtains to tack up in front of the windows. The bathroom fan made noise but had no suction whatsoever.
The chalet had lots of character but the exterior noise, dirty windows, cost, etc… guaranteed that we would never return.
The head office as a gesture of goodwill refunded us the cleaning cost, which was approx 1/4 of the cost of one night’s stay.
This chalet was not worth the cost of over $500/night we.There isn’t a resort, just 6 renovated chalets.
Would not recommend staying at Edelweiss Village and Resort (no village and no resort). There are much cheaper places to stay in and around in Golden, which is a wonderful little town."
