What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking beauty of Bow Glacier Falls and the surrounding landscape, calling it one of the most beautiful hikes. The stunning turquoise lake and powerful waterfall are major highlights. However, the extremely limited parking and the challenging steep incline on the trail are frequently cited drawbacks.
"We really wanted to do this hike but had read that much of the trail was closed due to rockfall. However, we found that it was mostly open. The trail starts alongside the beautiful lake, mostly flattish before weaving through and around a couple of small forested areas them alongside the glacial stream. Get ready for the big push up the mountside as it's steep! There are steps but the incline is tough, especially on the way back, where it was also a bit skiddy. My husband did go flying for a split second, be careful! When you think you're at the top, walk a little further around until you can see the falls. You can't see Bow Glacier anymore, but other glaciers are visible. We stopped and had lunch here. From there, you can continue on to the base of the falls, assuming that part is open. We decided not to as we'd already done a couple of shorter walks that day and our legs were tired. It's a lovely, relatively easy walk, and the lake and high valley are stunning. Well worth it for a couple of hours! Only downside is the parking. There's nowhere near enough in high season and no nearby alternatives. We hovered in the car park until someone left, as we'd cone a long way to do this walk."

"The most beautiful hike we have ever done anywhere. What we initially thought was a hard to pass area during our hike opened up to these amazing views when we opt to push through despite seeing others turn back. I think it’s a moderate to difficult hike but if you do it with caution and a slower pace, definitely more the former. Once you are pass the cliff area where you need to zig zag all the way down, you will need to push further ahead, and then lone behold the photos here. We will never forget how amazing it felt and look."

"So we wanted to do this hike to completion and go up to the portal summit but it turns out that the closure is part of that trail so we decided to do the bow hut trail instead. The overall hike was easy to moderate go steep. We hike often so for us it was more of a easy to moderate hike. We took our dog with us and there are plenty of stops for water along the way. If you decide to go to the falls you can get close but don't go past the sign. In Banff there is a posting about a 25,000 dollar fine if you go past it and I'm not sure what Canada does to enforce that. We decided to not take the risk. It's beautiful and get there early so you aren't fighting for a parking spot."
