Reviews Summary

Visitors find Canada's Penitentiary Museum to be an interesting and informative experience, particularly when visited after a Kingston Penitentiary tour. The donation-based entry is appreciated, though the museum can get quite busy. While many enjoy the historical artifacts and insights into prison life, some wish for more original items or coverage of specific areas like the female penitentiary.

"As a museum is very interesting. Free access. As a human I had a very strange feeling about pain and horror people went through being locked in that environment.
The museum itself is very impressive. Many documents, artifacts, all the history of the part of the reality we normally do not see. Thank you, people for this collections and stories."

Oksana Sivers

"Entry is free by donation which is allowed by debit or cash. The lady at the front door was very nice and she welcomed us very politely. However, it was very very busy there especially considering how relatively small the building is for tours. There were almost 10 people in every single room. Nonetheless, it was a good experience. If you go to the penitentiary, the things you see make a lot more sense and it all comes full circle. It wasn’t really my thing but if you’re in the area and are already visiting the penitentiary, then I would recommend going. If not, there’s really just no reason at all to go."

Noah Lockhart

"Wow, what a thrilling experience touring Canada's Penitentiary in Kingston! Walking through those walls truly gave a chilling sense of how inmates lived. The visuals and descriptions of the famous riot were shockingly intense. Hearing real-time accounts from the staff was incredibly engaging and informative. The guides were absolutely the best, bringing history to life!"
