Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the breathtaking scenery of Paradise Valley Lake Annette, especially the valley and river areas, calling it serene and beautiful. However, many highlight significant stress and confusion surrounding the Parks Canada shuttle system, with conflicting information and unexpected fees causing frustration. Bear activity also necessitates caution and last-minute permit arrangements for camping.

"We hiked this trail after the rain, so the first 4 miles were wet and muddy, with no views—just forest. But once you reach the valley and river area, the scenery becomes beautiful.
It mostly flat up to Sentinel pass, about 1,000 ft elevation gain for 4 miles.
We did it as part of a Lake Louise to Lake Moraine route, totaling 12 miles. We had our bus booked in advance and took the bus from Lake Moraine back to the Lake Louise parking lot."

"One of the few backcountry campsites in the national park. Can only obtain permit 24 hours in advance due to bear activity.

Beautiful hike. Took around 3 hours each way with packs. Not too strenuous. Lake Anette makes a nice pit stop.

Very cold morning in mid Sept (ice droplets on tent)."

"Amazing hike in Lake Louise! 5 stars for the hike however a 2 star review for the difficulties with parcs Canada staff that made this hike more difficult and stressful than it ever needed to be. Lake Louise is absolute chaos to start, feels like entering Disneyland. we booked the hike the morning of as it's only reservable up to 24hrs in advance through the visitor center. We had no problems here and were told there's always reserved spaces on the shuttles for people signing up for this hike. Once at park and ride the shuttle service told us there was no way we could be allowed to be picked up by a shuttle at moraine lake so we'd have to change our hike around and to never trust the visitor center employees. Even though the back country office told us the same info and the back of our shuttle ticket also said that we could be picked up at either paradise creek or moraine lake parking. Then we were charged a reservation service fee on the shuttle ticket even though we hadn't pre reserved with any service. In the end both shuttles we were on that were sold out were more than half empty. Canada parks should really be including these chargers in their advertised pricing if there's no way that you won't be paying it - no need to pretend things in the parks are cheap when they aren't it feels like trickery. Some better communication between departments would also be nice."
