Reviews Summary

Visitors generally have a positive experience at the Greater Vancouver Zoo, praising its family-friendly atmosphere and the excitement of seeing animals, especially during special events like Zoo Lights and the Meosozoic Adventure. While some find the zoo a bit small with limited animal variety, the educational programs and the chance to see endangered species are highly valued. The main drawbacks mentioned are the high cost of on-site food and occasional operational issues with attractions like the train.

"Great Family Day at Greater Vancouver Zoo!
We had a wonderful time at the Greater Vancouver Zoo! It was a fun and relaxing day with family — especially the excitement of spotting hidden animals like the red panda and snow leopard. 🐼❄️

The zoo is very family-friendly with plenty of picnic tables and clean washrooms available throughout. It’s a great place to spend quality time with family and kids of all ages.

One small suggestion: it would be nice to have more food options available inside the zoo for visitors who don’t bring their own meals.

Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend visiting at least once! 🌿🦓🐘"

"We had a wonderful stroll through the Greater Vancouver Zoo! While it’s small and doesn’t have a huge variety of animals, it’s definitely worth walking around to see the endangered species and joining the workshops. We even got front-row seats to watch the rangers feed the cheetah up close — such a thrill! One tip: skip the little train if you want to really see the animals, as it doesn’t give you much detail. A compact zoo, but full of memorable experiences!"

"First time visiting the Vancouver Zoo, and it was better than I thought! We were able to see lots of animals, and they all looked happy and relaxed. I highly recommend joining some of the spotlight programs, as they were free and educational. The safari cycles rent out very quickly, so if you want to try them, it’s best to rent early. It took us about 3 hours as adults to walk through the entire zoo.

The only improvement I would suggest is for the zoo to have more water dispensers inside."
