What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Maison Alphonse-Desjardins as a terrific, free museum offering a dual experience: the life story of its founder and a beautifully restored Victorian home. The knowledgeable and welcoming guides are a standout feature, making history come alive for all ages. It's considered a hidden gem in Lévis, offering significant historical and architectural value without any admission cost.
"Terrific free museum! It's almost 2 museums in one. First there is the house next door which serves as a place to show the timeline and story of Mr. Desjardins. Then the main house is set up in Victorian period with some of the original pieces and other appropriate period pieces. I really enjoyed my docent, Pierre, who was kind with my "emerging" French and excited to talk about the museum. A real gem for the city."
Michael Miller
"What an amazing experience. The house is very well restored and also the self guided audio was fun. They have many resources and contents. The selfie machine with the founder of Desjardins was funny. The staff lady was charming too.
And all of this is free."
