Reviews Summary

Rattray Marsh Conservation Area is widely praised as a beautiful and peaceful 'hidden gem' in Mississauga, offering stunning boardwalks through marshland and scenic views of Lake Ontario and the Toronto skyline. Visitors appreciate its accessibility, natural beauty, and the opportunity to connect with nature close to the city.

"A hidden gem in Mississauga! It’s a beautiful conservation area with a long boardwalk over the marshes. You can follow the boardwalk all the way to a shingle beach. The beach is fairly long with lovely views of the Toronto skyline. It’s a peaceful place; even on the weekend it was not busy.
One of the entrances to the conservation area is from a quiet, secluded residential area. It’s a great place to connect with nature and get some exercise."

"Beautiful park! Took the stroller and did the most of the Waterfront Trail, the Knoll Trail and Silver Maple Trail. I would say the Knoll Trail was best for the stroller as it was almost all boardwalk. The Silver Maple Trail had parts where it was less flat / maintained, with tree roots and such, making it a bit harder without a proper jogging stroller. There was a couple of small steps where the Waterfront Trail connected to the Silver Maple Trail, as well. No entrance fees or tickets needed. Overall the park is gorgeous, the trails are well maintained and it is a great spot for hiking!"

"A hidden gem in Mississauga!

Rattray Marsh Conservation Area is one of the most peaceful and beautiful natural spots in the GTA. It’s a perfect place for a walk if you want to reconnect with nature without driving hours out of the city. The boardwalk trails are well-maintained and wind through lush forest, wetlands, and open marshland.

Being here feels like you’re far from the city. There are also scenic lookouts and benches along the way to sit and enjoy the view. It’s great for photography, casual walks, and even just clearing your mind.

Parking is free but limited, so going early is a good idea on weekends. Also, no bikes are allowed on the boardwalk, which helps preserve the habitat and keeps the area quiet and clean.

Overall, Rattray Marsh is a must-visit if you enjoy nature trails and want a quiet escape close to home."

A Hidden Gem with a History

Rattray Marsh Conservation Area is often described as Mississauga's 'best-kept secret,' a tranquil haven tucked away within the urban landscape.Instagram+1 What makes it even more special is its history. In the 1960s, this beautiful area was almost developed into a luxury subdivision. Thankfully, local hero Dr. Ruth Hussey championed its preservation, fighting to protect it for future generations. Her efforts ensured that this vital green space remains a sanctuary for nature and a place for community enjoyment.Instagram

This history adds a layer of appreciation to the natural beauty you encounter. The conservation efforts have paid off, creating a peaceful environment that feels miles away from the city's hustle. It's a testament to the power of community action in safeguarding natural resources. The area offers a chance to reconnect with nature and appreciate the foresight of those who fought to preserve it.Instagram
